This is a reproduction print of the historical map “Variations des frontières de l'État polonais du Xe siècle à 1770” (Changes in the Borders of the Polish State from the 10th Century to 1770), drawn by Maurice Fallex under the editorial direction of French geographer Emmanuel de Martonne.
The map traces the territorial evolution of Poland across nearly eight centuries, from the emergence of the Polish state in the 10th century to 1770. Different colors and boundary lines illustrate periods of expansion, contraction and political change, providing a clear visual comparison of Poland’s historical frontiers.
Produced at a scale of 1:3,000,000, the map also shows major cities, routes, rivers, coastlines and other geographical features. The original colored sheet measured approximately 59 × 75 cm.
The map formed part of “Travaux du Comité d'études. Tome II: Questions européennes,” an atlas prepared by the French Comité d'études. Established by the French government in 1917, the committee conducted geographical, historical and ethnographic research to support French deliberations over European borders surrounding the Paris Peace Conference after World War I.
