This is a reproduction print of the historical map “The Roman Empire after its division into the eastern and the western empires”, drawn by Dr. Charles Müller and engraved by Edward Weller. It was published by John Murray in London in 1873 as part of Sir William Smith’s Ancient Atlas.

The hand-colored map depicts the Roman Empire following its division into Eastern and Western spheres, showing territories, major cities, rivers, and mountain ranges. Important centers such as Rome, Constantinople, and Alexandria are clearly marked, while color-coded boundaries distinguish the different territories.

An inset map of the Parthian Empire provides additional context for the eastern frontier of Rome and its relations with neighboring powers. Hachures are used to represent relief, adding geographical depth to this detailed 19th-century historical atlas map.
