Discover the rich history of medieval Estonia with this beautiful Tallinn City Map Poster, featuring the historic engraving "Revalia Revelin" created by Matthäus Merian in 1652 for the celebrated Topographia Germaniae atlas. This remarkable panoramic city view captures Tallinn—historically known as Reval—during the height of its importance as one of the great Hanseatic cities of Northern Europe.

Rendered in Merian's renowned engraving style, the artwork presents an exceptionally detailed bird's-eye panorama of the fortified city as viewed from the harbor. Massive defensive walls, bastions, city gates, and the impressive skyline dominated by the towering spire of St. Olaf's Church illustrate Tallinn's strength, prosperity, and architectural beauty during the 17th century.

The engraving includes a detailed legend identifying important landmarks, including Toompea Castle, the Cathedral, St. Olaf's Church, the Old Swedish Church, and numerous civic buildings. Elegant sailing ships fill the harbor, highlighting Tallinn's crucial role as a maritime trading center within the Hanseatic League.

The lower portion of the engraving also presents a panoramic view of Narva, offering a rare historical perspective of two of Estonia's most significant cities in a single composition. Rich architectural details, precise line engraving, and Renaissance cartographic artistry make this work both an important historical document and an outstanding decorative print.

Perfect for collectors, history enthusiasts, architects, travelers, and admirers of antique city maps, this vintage Tallinn poster makes an elegant addition to offices, libraries, studies, or interiors inspired by European history and historic architecture.
